ABOUT THE NAME "LOOYORK"

(Three of the four Sundbeck sisters; "Sardyloo" on the left.)

No, the name "LOOYORK" does not have to do with toilets in the Big Apple. Nor was the site named after a New York State Supreme Court Justice who fought for the rights of NYPD whistle-blowers. With all apologies to the city's do-gooders (and doo-doo-goers), the truth about the name is actually far less ... pungent?

The name is just our attempt to "marry" two of our favorite things: out-of-town family and NYC. The "Loo" part comes from the nickname of Lisa's youngest sister, Sarah, a.k.a. "Sardyloo," a.k.a. "one of the most delightful human beings you'll come across in any part of this fair land." And the "york" part is obviously our adopted hometown's surname.

So that's the story behind LOOYORK.COM. Although it's probably worth mentioning that another name we were close to going with was "TEXHATTAN.COM", which is pretty cool too. Just not nearly as cool as Sardyloo.
